BABY is a latest terrorism
thriller of Neeraj Pandey, starring Akshay Kumar as a deadly cool officer of
the department leads the mission and cracks down each and every gangster one by
one, sometimes even achieves the impossible target with no planning or
preparation. It seems like so far away from the reality. Catching and hunting
such dangerous criminals is just a piece of cake in the movie and I just wish it
would be same in the real world too. Although Akshay Kumar gave his best. In
the whole movie there’s not a single dull moment when he is on the screen.
Little humor, super actions and off course his looks, everything seems a pack
of all.
Story of the movie continues
when Ajay discovers that the country and the nation is in biggest threat from
the terrorists and their plan is to kill as many people and to strike the
terror in the hearts of the nation. Makers of Bollywood thrillers seems like so
very obsessed with counter terrorism in which only Muslims are the terrorists. Many
of the plot details are from real people and real incidents. But, in
constructing its worldview about good and bad guys, it goes completely
overboard with overt alarmism and finger-pointing that’s completely not
acceptable in many countries. In a scene Ajay Singh Rajput (Akshay Kumar) tells
an ISI agent Taufeeq (Mujeeb Khan) how he defended a Muslim family during the
Gujarat riots and why he puts 'Indian' in the Religion bracket in all forms
that he fills. Somehow this sets the tone for the film that terrorists don't
have a religion and no particular community ought to be associated with
terrorism but on the other hand Baby’s principle villain name is Mulana Hafiz
Saeed, who, sitting across the Indian border, planning to make India and their
people suffer.
Baby has fine quality actors
like Kay Kay Menon, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Sushant Singh in roles
that are supposed to be authentic representations of the actual world. Baby is
of 2 hours and 40 minutes long, seems like too long to entertain with a lot of
flaws but still not a totally bad movie to watch.
