As we already discussed that
Sonam Kapoor does not have a very good history in the list of hit Bollywood
movies although she is pretty but her acting tantrums and over-confident
personality is not helping her rise in the industry.
Dolly ki Doli is directed by
Arbaz Khan and he is very sure that this time it will be a hit. Story of the
movie revolves around a LOTERI DULHAN, who finds rich guys, marries them and
mixes sleeping pills in the milk and makes off after robbing them dry.
Rajkummar Rao is the first 'target' of the DULHAN in the movie. He is proud of
his roots and forever ready to do anything for the girl he loves.
Interestingly, it is not just the accent and dialogue delivery that makes his
character believable even his body language and attitude matches. And trust me
if there is something worth watching in DOLLY KI DOLI than it is the
performances of the actors. In the put-up family that the gang forms to dupe
families into weddings, Raju is Dolly's brother! Manoj Joshi as the father, too,
is a very impressive character. Zeeshan Ayub plays very authentic character of
the Dolly’s gang member who is in love with her but knows that his love will
nowhere because she only believes in faking the marriages and making money.
This is for the first time
Sonam attempted a complex role, results are not that perfect but little more
convincing. It seems like she is on baby steps and moving towards good and then
perfection in near future. Abhishek Dogra's swindle-bride story is simple and
refreshing. It is filled with many insane moments to laugh on, hilarious
performances and quirky characters.
When
the writing can keep pace with them, the actors do a fairly good job. But that
sadly isn't often enough for the film to be able to soar above its modest ambitions.
But for all its obvious flaws and failings, Dolly Ki Doli is not completely
unworthy of the 100 minutes that it demands from the audience so go for the
movie, for the entertaining performances.
